According to ESPN MMA reporter Ariel Helwani YouTuber turned boxer Jake Paul and former MMA star Ben Askren are going to fight each other in the boxing ring on April 17th.
This move comes after Conor McGregor was knocked out by Dustin Porier last weekend, in effect dropping Conor’s stock for the time being. Jake Paul taunted Conor one last time and now has moved on to Ben Askren.
So who will win? Jake Paul has trained with intensity and discipline for a year, and clearly has the athleticism and boxing prowess to be taken seriously in the ring. However he has only fought opponents he can clearly beat and it seems that this upcoming match is no different. Ben’s total MMA record was 19-3 by the end of his career but he is a notoriously bad striker. See for yourself:
Looks like Jake will win. But so will Ben! If he loses, he will challenge Jake Paul to an MMA bout and have a rematch on his hands. If he wins, Jake Paul just got beat by a grappler and Ben’s fighting career has a brief resurgence. Either way he gets paid.
It appears the real losers will be anyone who wants to see top tier boxing on display. But if you want to see either one of these guys get knocked out, absolutely worth the price of admission!
